Free Ways To Boost Your List Building

Let Them Optin Everywhere

Want to build your list a little faster? Putting the right list building strategies in place now can pay real dividends both now and in the future. Let’s take a look at a few strategies you can employ that are as simple as placing an optin box on your blog that will let you start watching the sign-ups roll in!

Use a Feature Box

You know that block at the top of blog post feed, that usually offers a free ebook? That’s a feature box. Use this space to make your new visitors quickly familiar with the topics you cover in your blog. Alternatively, you can offer your latest ebook, pdf, checklist or other premium content.

Let Them Know You Have a Newsletter in The Sidebar

Ah, the sidebar. The place where tag clouds, categories and latest blog posts meet. Why not use this space to prompt your viewers to sign up for your newsletter? Greatest link builder alive Brian Dean from Backlinko still does this.

Ask Them to Subscribe At The Bottom of Each Post

The one place where the reader realizes for sure if he liked the article or not is.. the end of the post. It makes a lot of sense to include an email opt-in there, doesn’t it?

Pop-ups Still Work

The trick is to use them wisely. Don’t just fire them 2 seconds after your visitor lands on your page. Exit intent pop-ups, that appear when the visitor is about to close the tab are less intrusive and will provide better results in the long run.

So for those of you, who like me, are not friends with Photoshop, here’s a little trick: Find the blog post that performs better than every other post on your blog. Then set your pop-up to redirect the visitor to this page, once they provide you their email address. See, you don’t even need to have an ebook or other premium content to offer. Be sure to remove this pop-up from displaying at the page you’re linking to, otherwise you will look silly

Your First 1000 Subscribers … Or Your Second!

If you’re just starting out, the thought of getting your first 1,000 subscribers may be daunting. But don’t let it be! There are so many ways to boost your list building and with a little effort here and there, you’ll start to see steady sign-ups … and those add up faster than you’d think! Below is one very important method to build your list faster than ever.

Landing Pages Are Gold

Blogs generally don’t convert very well, so be sure to have a landing page. You might get 1 to 3% from your sidebar opt-in form, but the landing pages I’ve created have converted up to 53%.

Headlines are important, especially on landing pages. So spend some time crafting a killer one. 3. Tell your visitors why they should subscribe. They won’t do it just because.

Give them only two options on this page; subscribe or leave. If you have the right elements, they’ll sign up.

Provide them with multiple opportunities to enter their email address. One above the “fold” and one for the “scrollers”.

Use social proof. If they see that others have taken that step and subscribed, they’ll be more likely to do so.

Don’t ask for too much information so soon. This transaction marks the beginning of the relationship, you don’t need much more than a name and an email address to start building trust.
